Beasties
Last week I did a quickie tourist trip to the local museum (I don’t think I’ve been there for at least 10 years!) for a very good reason… It was (mostly) aesthetically pleasing…
As seen at the Museum of Vancouver – Ravishing Beasts taxidermy/art exhibit. From the very pretty to the ominous to the outright ugly (I stuck to taking photos of the pretty and ominous). On now until February 28. Amazing for taking reference photos and gaining new inspirations! Short but sweet, yet highly recommended. If you’re in Vancouver, then…Go go go! ’Cause by March it’s all gone.
Pink Surprise
Was browsing the other day in one of the Vancouver Chapters locations (always and forever more in the fashiony section of the magazines) and LOOK what I found!! The 2-for-1 Curvy specials of books 1 and 6! Unable to or not so into online shopping? Want two rad coffee table art books for the price of one? Pop by the Chapters chain orrrrr if a rad, specialised independent book shop has it, then buy it there! Nonetheless, same price: $60 (Cdn) I’m really excited that I finally found Curvy here, on my own turf, for the first time! I like. It’s a PINK assault! Baby pink and hot pink. Pink pink pink. You can’t miss ‘em.

And on another note, the next round of submissions for next year’s Curvy 7 has, I believe, come to a close Nope, they changed the deadline to February 27. Sent 3 images (continuing my deers series) back in October; in the coming weeks should find out whether I’ve been accepted or perhaps rejected. Time will tell…but what’s more important than that is just continuing to work hard and enjoy doing what I love to do regardless, because other opportunities will always follow and I definitely appreciated having the chance to be apart of book 6 this past year. Not to mention Ion Magazine, the 100 Amigos and Art & Sole group shows at El Kartel, the lessons I learned from my first solo show at Blim and the countless lessons learned from the first semester of IdDS at Kwantlen Uni. Here’s hoping that 2010 will be even bigger, better, and less stressful than 2009.
